"Ask Your Doctor"

During certain breaks in an hour on television, we are bombarded by drug advertisements, promoting various drugs for various uses. Before the end of these ads, we usually hear these words, "Ask Your Doctor."

Folks are encouraged to ask their doctor about using the drug being advertised and what adverse side effect the drug might have. Sometimes, the side effects of a drug are worse than any medical problem an individual might have (see here).

Spiritually speaking, we too get sick from time to time because of the malady called "sin" (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:23). When we do, we can ask the Great Physician, who can provide us with a prescription which has no adverse side effects at all (Luke 5:18-26; Luke 7:36-50).

This prescription contains the cleansing blood of Christ, which will "cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

However, this prescription only works "if" we are willing to "confess" and "forsake our sins" (1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13) and to continue "walking in the light" of God's Word (1 John 1:7; cf. Psalm 119:105).

Dear reader, when we become spiritually sick from the onset of sin in our life, let us ask the only Doctor who can completely cure us of this malady (Matthew 9:10-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:27-32; cf. 1 Timothy 1:15).
