Let's Keep Our Bible Oiled!

The story is told of a Bible salesman who was one day demonstrating a Bible to the lady of the house. After purchasing the Bible, the lady asked the following question:

“How can I keep my Bible cover from causing cracks and breaks in the binding?”

The salesman replied, “Use palm oil, dear lady.”

The lady, not knowing of such an oil replied, “But what is palm oil?”

The salesman replied: “Lady, in the palm of the hand is to be found an oil, which, when applied daily to the covers of your book will prevent deterioration of the covers caused by dryness.” This lady realized that what the salesman was telling her made sense.

David evidently knew of the use of this palm oil, when he wrote:

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in his law he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:2).

Dear reader, the thing we need less of today is Bible bindings and covers suffering decomposition because of a lack of palm oil.

Let’s keep our Bible oiled! (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV; Psalm 1:1-2).
