"God Can Fix It!"

The story is told of a dear sister in Christ who one day passed away after a prolonged illness. On the table in the preacher’s home, were some pictures of the deceased — one of which was to be used for the obituary. The preacher had gone downstairs with his three-year-old son for a little play time.

When the young boy saw the picture of the departed sister, he asked, “Who is that?” His dad told him who it was, and then he asked, “Where does she live?” The preacher then faced the task of explaining the concept of death to his three-year-old. He told his son that the lady had gotten very sick, and as a result died.

His son then asked his dad why the lady had to die. He explained that when people grow old, their bodies get tired, they get sick, and as a result, die and go to be with God.

The little boy looked at his dad and said, “That’s alright — God can fix it.

How refreshing is the sweet innocence, trust, and simple wisdom of a child! (cf. Mark 10:13-15).

The writer of Revelation [John] tells us that in that heavenly abode:

And God will wipe every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful‘” (Revelation 21:4-5).

Yes, regarding the problem of death, God can indeed “fix it!”
