To Know "A Man"

Isaiah 32:2 speaks of “A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, And a cover from the tempest, As rivers of water in a dry place, As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

When life strips us bare of those with whom we once held dear (Job 1:18-19); when the towering shelter and comfort of a loved one has been suddenly taken away (John 11:1-14); when the very things to which we have given ourselves are destroyed (Job 1:13-17); when our life has become barren like a desert (1 Kings 19:9-10; Romans 11:3).

Then it is good to know “a man” who will be as a hiding place from the wind — a cover from the tempests of life — a river of water or as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

Dear reader, that man is none other than the Lord Himself (see commentary 1; commentary 2).
