How Will We Be Successful In Spiritual Warfare?

In 2 Corinthians 10:4, Paul uses the word “weapons” [plural]. Thus as Christians, we have not one, but multiple weapons at our disposal in conducting spiritual warfare (cf. Ephesians 6:11-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:8).

Let us also notice, that the Christian’s main battle begins and ends in his own mind; e.g., “bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

On one occasion, Jesus said regarding the heart of man:

What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and they defile a person” (Mark 7:20-23 ESV).

How will we be successful in spiritual warfare? By “keeping our heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23 ESV; cf. Ezra 7:10 ESV).
