God Hears Us!

For over 40 years, my late father was a television repairman. He had an unusual ability for correctly diagnosing where the trouble was in any television set, and could fix the problem in short order.

As his assistant, I noticed that before he would do anything to the TV, he would first look at it and listen to it. His eyes and ears caught every subtle change in picture quality and sound, every change in pitch or vibration. He could identify the first signs of a problem before it became apparent to others. It’s as if he knew each unit personally.

In like manner, God knows us personally and intimately. He monitors our thoughts and feelings (Matthew 12:24-25; Luke 6:7-8). As King David declared, we can be sure that when we cry out to Him, He hears us (Psalm 18:6). He hears the groaning of our heart. He knows when we are “broken” or “out of tune.” And when we call on Him, He knows exactly what we need (Philippians 4:19).

Are we facing a problem today? Let’s cry out to the Lord. We can be sure that He will hear us and see us “through” the difficulty (Psalm 23:4).
