"The Greatest"

When Mohammed Ali was at the height of his boxing career, he was often called “The Greatest” — referring to the fact that he was considered by many, the greatest fighter in the history of boxing. But, have we ever considered what John 3:16 KJV is telling us with regard to greatness? Let’s notice each word and phrase in this beloved text and then see who “The Greatest” really is:

God — "The greatest" lover.
So loved — "The greatest" degree.
The world — "The greatest" company.
That He gave His — "The greatest" act.
Only begotten Son — "The greatest" gift.
That whosoever — "The greatest" opportunity.
Believeth — "The greatest" simplicity.
In Him — "The greatest" attraction.
Should not perish — "The greatest" promise.
But — "The greatest" difference.
Have — "The greatest" certainty.
Eternal life — "The greatest" possession.

Beloved, God gave the greatest gift that was ever offered to mankind, and He still has to beg and plead with us to accept it! Let’s get our Bibles, turn to Isaiah 53, read it, and then see what kind of excuses we can make for not teaching the saving gospel of Christ to a world lost in sin.

Since Jesus is the greatest attraction that man could ever know, why will we allow the things of this world to attract or allure us away from God?

Just think what would happen, if we spent as much time thinking of ways to better serve God, as we do in making excuses for not faithfully serving Him?
