"Everybody Just Worked Together"

A few years ago, ABC News, staff writer Colleen Curry, provided an updated report on the condition of Brandon Wright, a 21 year old student at Utah State University, who was pulled from beneath a BMW after crashing into it with his motorcycle.

One of the reasons for the major news networks covering this unfolding drama, was not to get more viewers, because they weren’t even at the scene at the time the accident occurred. The action was all caught on video by university staffer Chris Garff who just happened to be in the same area getting ready to film a video lecture.

What was refreshing to see, were the two construction workers and approximately nine or so other folks, helping one another to successfully lift the almost 5,000 pound BMW so that Lee Christensen, one of the construction workers, could pull Brandon out and away from the BMW and the motorcycle that were both on fire.

All of the above rescuers were rightfully deemed as being “heroes.” Recalling the incident, construction worker Lee Christensen simply stated, “Everybody just worked together and we got him out of there.” This selfless action is a far cry from the 38 selfish folks in Queens New York, who refused to come to the aid of a young woman being repeatedly raped and stabbed back in 1964.

Beloved, we are facing a far more serious problem today than either of the above documented stories portray, and that is the problem of people who are daily dying in sin. The question is, will we as Christians be God’s heroes in rescuing those who are daily dying in sin from certain spiritual death (Romans 6:21,23) and a certain hell-fire, by preaching and teaching them the saving gospel of Christ, i.e., “Everybody just worked together and we got him out of there,” or will we be like the selfish folks in Queens, New York, not wanting to get involved?

Let’s seriously think about it and then work together in rescuing these folks!
