An Expression Of Our Gratitude To God

The story is told of a father and mother who, in honoring the memory of their son killed in World War II, gave a sizable check to the church. When the presentation was made, the mother whispered to her husband, “Let’s give the same amount for our other boy!”

“What are you talking about?” asked the husband. “Our other son hasn’t lost his life!”

“Ah!” exclaimed the wife, “that’s just the point! Let’s give it as an expression of our gratitude to God for sparing his life!”

Each day that God allows us to “live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28 KJV), let us express our gratitude to Him by giving to the church our talents, our time, our monies, and most of all ourselves (2 Corinthians 8:5; cf. Matthew 16:24-27; Romans 12:1; Ephesians 5:18-20; Psalm 34:1; Hebrews 13:15).

One grateful saint expressed his gratitude to God in this manner:

Our Father, Thou hast given us so much. Do please give us one more thing …. a grateful heart, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
