"Let Judgment Be Executed Speedily"

After reading this Huffington Post article this morning, regarding a Florida man having to wait 30 years on death row, to finally be executed for murders committed in 1985, the following scriptures immediately came to mind:

Ezra 7:26: "Whoever will not observe the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be death, or banishment, or confiscation of goods, or imprisonment."

Ecclesiastes 8:11: "Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil" (see article and note statements under the heading "Swiftness."

By God's authority, governments have the right to execute violators of law in whatever manner they deem proper. By inspiration, the apostle Paul writes in Romans 13:1-4:

"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil."

Beloved, there is absolutely no legitimate reason why a convicted felon should be imprisoned at taxpayer's expense for 30 years. By the above scriptures, a death sentence needs to be carried out "speedilyfor the above stated reasons  not protracted for a 30 year period.
