God-Centered Nation Will Survive Evil

My good friend Ramnath Subramanian, has written another thought-provoking article, emphasizing the fact that a nation without God is like a ship without a rudder and compass, aimlessly going in any direction the ocean currents direct it.

As Ram talks to an old reclusive man by the name of Phil, the wise man declares the following truth:

A man without religion will fall eventually, for he walks without a compass, and the land is full of pitfalls. He may claim the earth is his, and that he has measured and marked its geography with the instruments of his invention, but he shall find himself wanting, for the ink of full knowledge flows from above. Likewise, a country without religion will falter and fall away. Take away heaven from earth, and the fuliginous mind of man begins to construct tyrannies.

The above statements remind me of what the inspired prophet Jeremiah declared so many eons ago: "O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps" (Jeremiah 10:23).

Since man is incapable of directing his own steps, what are we to do? The Psalmist provides us with the inspired answer:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones" (Psalm 3:5-8).
