Bible Solution To Disrespect, Arrogance, And Rebellion

The following commentary is attributed to Socrates (469-399 BC) by Plato. The description of the society he lived in, is similar to the one we find ourselves living in today.

Does this sound familiar?

"Children now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs and tyrannize over their teachers" (source).

The apostle Paul recorded a similar society that he lived in during the first century (Romans 1:28-32 NIV). Human nature hasn’t changed much since then has it?

What’s the Bible solution to the disrespect, arrogance, and rebellion we find in the children of  our society today?

The inspired Apostle Paul provides the answer: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4 NIV; cf. Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Psalm 78:1-8).
