A querist asks, “I was not interested in the Bible until I started to read some of its passages and found some of them very interesting. I was wondering, does one of the passages say something like if you’re dying, love is what can keep you living?”The passages of Scripture that immediately come to my mind regarding your question are the ones found in Romans 8:35-39 KJV:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Even though our bodies are dying (decaying) physically speaking (2 Corinthians 4:16; Hebrews 9:27); and even though our spirit [life] will be separated from our earthly body (James 2:26), a Christian will never be separated from God’s love, even in death (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23).
How marvelous a prospect this is to contemplate! This idea alone should be more than enough to motivate all men to become New Testament Christians and “live” for Christ (Philippians 1:20-21).
