Today Is Planting Time

Somewhere in our world at this very moment, a farmer is dropping seeds into the ground. Soon those seeds will begin to change the surrounding soil in which they were planted. That carefully prepared soil that appears barren today, will soon become a field ready for harvest.

In the same way, the choices we make and the actions we take, can be seeds to alter the landscape of life for others and ourselves (cf. Esther 4:10-16; Esther 8; Esther 9) .

A farmer who sows wheat is never surprised when wheat grows from the ground where it was planted. It’s God’s universal law of sowing and reaping.

Paul used it to illustrate a corresponding spiritual principle in Galations 6:7: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

The self-centered part of us says, “Satisfy yourself” .... while the Spirit urges us to engage in activities that will help others, bringing glory and honor to the Lord (Galations 6:8; Matthew 5:16; Matthew 7:21).

Folks, today is planting time. Let us not be slack in doing good to others, for God has promised us: “In due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Galations 6:9-10).

Therefore, let us plant, and God will give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).
