As I read this article and viewed this video of Dr. Carla Hayden being sworn in as the 14th librarian of Congress, my mind returned to my college days at the University of North Texas back in the early 1960's. Looking back, I now realize that I should have pursued a master's degree in library science, but instead chose to serve in military service for four years and pursue other avenues.
As the above article states, the Library of Congress is the 216-year-old repository, "harboring the country's most sacred and revered historical works." Included in those sacred historical works is their Bible collection containing manuscripts from various countries around the world, as well as the infamous Giant Bible of Mainz and the Gutenberg Bible (see article).
After working as a substitute in our public school libraries for thirteen years (I'm resigning in December of this year), it is indeed sad that we can now no longer find a copy of the Bible in those libraries because of "politically correct" ideologies that have taken over our nation in place of common sense, decorum, and a genuine love for God's word.
The Library of Congress is not the only depository containing "sacred historical works." The Bible itself contains the sacred and "inspired" depository of God's will to mankind (2 Timothy 3:15-17; Matthew 7:21 NLT), designed to instruct, shape and mold man into becoming more like our divine Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:11-21; Galations 2:20; 1 John 2:1-6 NLT).
Over the past sixty years, this writer has seen God and His word slowly being cast out of our society by degrees (this is how Satan operates! - Matthew 4:1-11 NLT). What can be done to reverse this trend? Get back to the Bible, to God, and to moral sanity, as the writer of this article indicates.
Beloved, let us read the Bible, heed what it says, and obey what it says "do." Then perhaps God will not consider bringing righteous judgment upon our nation (Jonah 3; cf. Psalm 9:17; Job 8:1-13 NLT).
