Eleanor Rigby And Loneliness

In the Beatles' song, Eleanor Rigby, there is a chorus with these words: "All the lonely people, where do they all come from? All the lonely people, where do they all belong?" (source).

As the above lyrics ask, "Where do they [the lonely] all come from?" The answer is that lonely people come from all walks of life, the rich, the middle class, the poor, and the destitute. Why were these people lonely? The answer is that no one cared about them (note the first three interpretations of the lyrics to the above song).

With over 7 billion people in our world (see here), why is there loneliness? Simply because no one cares about any other person but themselves. Sadly, that includes some members of the Lord's church as well.

Beloved, because of the souls of peoplewe must care! (2 Peter 3:1-9; cf. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 NCV).
