"Self-Doubt Is An Inside Job"

The above statement comes from a church marquee sign that I recently saw while traveling to a scheduled meeting with my insurance agent.

The dictionary defines self-doubt as "lack of confidence in the reliability of one's own motives, personality, thought, etc" (source).

There's absolutely no question in this writer's mind that self-doubt is indeed an inside job. In her article entitled, "Self-Doubt Destroys the Heart, Mind, Body and Soul," author and cardiologist, Dr. Cynthia Thalk, provides us with the following five tips for dealing with self-doubt (I have added related article links and scriptures).

1) Live in the Present (Philippians 3:13-15 MEV).
2) Trust in Yourself — "for as he thinks in his heart" (Proverbs 23:6-7)
3) Counteract the Negative (Philippians 4:8,13).
4) Find the Source of Your Self-Doubt (Exodus 4:1-16).
5) Spend Time With Others (Exodus 18).

In her closing remarks, Dr. Thalk encourages her readers with these words:

"Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could rediscover the genius in you? The simple act of believing in yourself, trusting the process, and trusting that you will know what to do when the time comes can greatly relieve your self-doubt. Practice staying present in the moment and try not to regret the past or worry about the future. If you can do this, you may just see your genius reemerge."

Beloved, Dr. Thalk's above words, "Practice staying present in the moment," and trusting in the Lord "with all our heart" (Proverbs 3:5-6) is the remedy for any self-doubt we might have (Philippians 3:13-15 MEV).
