What About The Future Of Mankind?

As I look at these three technology videos, describing what role technology might possibly play in the future of mankind, here, here, and here the message this author receives, is that frail man will somehow develop a kind of utopian society and world (Psalm 39:4; Jeremiah 10:23). That utopia might consist of (1) more practical ways of using energy efficient resources; (2) the development of fuel efficient autonomous vehicles; and (3) the building of energy efficient buildings and infrastructure.

In discussing the above future possibilities, we are looking at a future society that might exist in 2029 to one that might exist in 2050. These societies are not based on any certainty of existence on this present earth, simply because our Lord might return on any day of God's choosing (Matthew 24:35-36; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4) and end earth's existence (as well as the whole universe), "in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Corinthians 15:51-53; cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 2 Peter 3:10-14).

The question is, what should mankind do before the Lord's certain and definite return?  The simple answer is found in 2 Peter 3:14 NLT: "And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight" (nothing that "defiles" will be found in that heavenly city - Revelation 21:27).

In order to be found "living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless," mankind must obey God's plan of salvation (Christ being the "chief cornerstone" of that salvation plan - Acts 4:10-12) and be found "abounding in the work of the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Beloved, according to God's word, it is a certainty (there is no "might" to it) that our future home is not on this planet called earth, but in that heavenly city that God has prepared for the faithful (Hebrews 11:13-16; Revelation 21; cf. John 14:1-4). Let us therefore "set our house in order" ..... preparing ourselves for that heavenly home today! (2 Corinthians 6:1-2).
