Two Observations On My Morning Walk

On my morning walk this morning to purchase some necessities at our local Dollar Store, I made the following two observations:

1) There was a local grocery store shopping cart that had been left in close proximity to the sidewalk that I was walking on. In fact, I've noticed several of these shopping carts on my various walks. The folks who leave these carts in various places (yes, even in concrete water drainage ditches), know from whence they came, but they are too lazy to return them back to their rightful owners, so they just leave them as is.

These folks don't want to think about the fact that because of their lackadaisical attitude, comes added costs to the grocery consumer, i.e., in the form of higher food prices, because of replacement costs of the grocery carts (see here). The principle is that every action demands an equal and opposite reaction (see here), whether negative or positive. In this case, a negative reaction.

2) My efficient postal delivery man was late (and he's rarely late) in delivering the morning mail, (1) because his truck broke down and then (2) he had to deliver the mail on a different route because the mail carrier for that route failed to show up for work.

Once again, mechanical upkeep of the Post Office's trucks are a necessity for running a smooth mail delivery service as well as keeping a well-trained, up-to-date mail delivery staff. And in the case where no one shows up for work, they will probably have to spend some of that extra precious money that they give to those six figure salaried executives, in order to hire some temporary back-up employees.

The bottom line is this: If we want to have efficiency in any operation (including the Lord's church), there must exist a spirit of excellence (see here and here) within the organization, or the organization will soon fail and be out of business. Beloved, let's think about it and then incorporate a spirit of excellence in everything we do, so that God can receive the glory (Isaiah 43:7; Matthew 5:14-16).
