Words Mean Something!

When Hillary Clinton stated that half of Donald Trump's supporters were "deplorable" (see here), she failed to think and understand that words mean something! So much so, that it's highly possible that those words may very well have cost her the Presidency.

When Hayley Geftman-Gold, the now fired CBS lawyer (once a vice president in their strategic transactions department), stated that she was not sympathetic of those victims and their families affected by the recent carnage in Las Vegas, because "country music fans often are Republican gun toters" (see American Thinker article), she found out very quickly that words mean something!

In the context of Matthew 12:22-33 (ESV), Jesus knew that words mean something, when He told the Pharisees, "You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:34-37; cf. Psalm 39:1; Proverbs 13:3; 21:23).

Jesus was implying that the words they used were speaking against Him, simply because they were not true; rather, they were false accusations (cf. Isaiah 59:9-13 - note the words "lying" and "falsehood" in vs. 13). As brother Burton Coffman well states regarding vs. 36: "they are the words that betray a bias of the soul against God and expose the evil heart of the sinner" (see commentary).

Beloved, as indicated above, we need to carefully consider the state and shape of our heart before we allow any words to exit from our mouth, for words mean something!
