Put Down Your Phone!

On Christmas day, I experienced the first Christmas of my 73+ years on earth by myself. Most of the day brought about an environment of complete silence (no phone calls, no radio, no Internet, no nothing), where I could, without interruption, mentally reflect on the joys, disappointments and God-given blessings of my life; a day in which I could totally commune and communicate with the God of heaven and earth who created me and gave me life (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7; Acts 17:24-25).

Sadly, most people in today's "always busy" digital age, could not have undergone a day of complete silence. For many people, living in that kind of environment (even for one day), would literally be a hell on earth. In the above titled two short duration videos here and here, we get an insight into two of today's greatest fears of the digital age: (1) the fear of complete silence, and (2) the fear of missing out.

In the first above video, the point is made that in today's digital age, folks do everything in their power to never be silent or ever find themselves in an environment of complete silence. When we are silent and have to totally concentrate on our thoughts, we have to then face who we truly are, and that literally terrifies most of us. And we can't stand the thought that when we pass from this life, this world will still go on without us (see here). When we are constantly looking at our smartphones, we miss out on what's really important in life.

In the second above video, the point is made that there's a world flying by us which contains a million wondrous wonders (see herehere, and here), but we can only observe them by putting down our smartphones (and other digital devices). The suggestion is to start a fire, throwing all digital devices into it (or to destroy the devices by several other means listed in the video). Only then can we truly learn what the simple things in life bring us, such as running around in a field, picking up a book (preferably the Bible), and actually taking the time to read it, or conversing with people in "real-time" (also see here and here).

Beloved, what's stress-free living all about? It's attained by putting down our smartphones (see here), and setting spiritual priorities (Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:1-4; see herehere, here, and here). In 2018, let us control our digital devices, rather than them controlling us (1 Corinthians 6:12 MEV).
