The Fallacy Of Limiting Alcohol Intake

After reading this KFOX14 article about a government panel wanting to require all 50 states to raise taxes on alcohol and lower the blood alcohol content for drivers, this writer had to chuckle at the sheer lunacy of the idea (and certainly another waste of taxpayer's money).

The fallacy of trying to limit alcohol intake is this: How is lowering the current blood alcohol limit of .08 percent down to .05 percent, going to make any difference in reducing drunken driving deaths? The answer is that it won't make any difference at all.

Why? Simply because the consumption of only one alcoholic drink adversely effects the human body to some degree, thus effecting the judgment of an individual (see here and note Brown University study article).

Obviously, King Lemuel's (interestingly, his name means "devoted to God") wise mother recognized the above truth, when she told her son in Proverbs 31:1-9 NLT, noting specifically vs. 5): "It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol. For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed."

Beloved, using a little bit of logic (see here), if it's not good for rulers (kings) to crave alcohol (thus diminishing their ability and capacity to judge properly), why in the world would it be good for anyone to crave alcohol? (especially those folks behind the wheel of a 6,000 pound automobile). Again using logic, if alcohol is not fit for an animal to consume, why would it be fit for a human being? (see here and here).

What's the biblical solution for solving the alcohol consumption problem in our society? Answer: Change the mindset of people (see here and here). Also note 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Philippians 4:8 NET).
