Will Our Best Friend Be Alexa Or The Lord God?

As I read this BBC article by author Clare Thorp, presenting the idea of making a voice assistant (Amazon Alexa) my best friend, is to this writer, totally ludicrous. So ludicrous, that I had to laugh out loud. The reason being is that "a connection" with an inanimate object cannot possibly form a lasting social bond as we would with a God-created human being in "real time" (see here, herehere, and here).

If I had to choose between Alexa (or any other robotic entity) for my best friend, my immediate choice would overwhelmingly be God, "the Lord of heaven and earth" (Matthew 11:25; Luke 10:21), because when life tumbles in and trouble comes (as it surely will - 2 Timothy 3:11-13 NLT), we can turn to Him for help, encouragement, and comfort (see here).

Alexa? Well, not so much (see article and see video).

A digital device or man-made robot will never be able to provide such reliable help, encouragement, or comfort in time of great need.

Beloved, this writer is afraid that Alexa (or any other man-made device) will never take the place of either a human being or Almighty God. In dark hours of despair, this writer chooses to totally depend upon the Lord God -- the Friend who will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5; cf. Genesis 28:13-15).
